There are a number of ways you can support graduate students. From funding important programs that support graduate student career preparedness and mental health to setting up awards and scholarships to advancing world-changing research, your gift makes a difference. Graduate Awards

Graduate scholarships at the University of Alberta were established to support graduate students of the highest calibre from around the world. They offer meaningful support and encouragement and allow our scholars to concentrate on academics and research.

In 2017-18, an astounding $26 million dollars in graduate scholarships were available, administered, and allocated through the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research.

The sources of the awards are various including both the Canadian federal and Alberta's provincial governments, and through generous benefactors and contributions.

Establishing a Graduate Scholarship

Establishing a graduate scholarship is a tremendous way to support graduate education—where your contributions can help advance discovery and innovation, and enhance our students' experiences.

There are three ways to participate in our graduate awards programs:

  • Contribute to an existing graduate award
  • Establish an endowment
  • Make annual donations
