Eligibility

  • Superior Academic Achievement (grade point average of 3.5 or greater on the University of Alberta grading scale
  • Faculty of Science or the Faculty of Education
  • Nominees are eligible for the scholarship in years one and two of a master's program or years one through five of a doctoral program
  • Nominees from the Faculty of Education must have a research focus in mathematics or science
  • Selection is based on superior academic achievement
  • Preference will be given to a nominee who is a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada who has immigrated to Canada within the last five years
  • Open to Canadian citizens.
  • Open to permanent residents.
  • Open to foreign nationals holding Canadian study permits.
  • Open to applicants in doctoral programs.
  • Open to applicants in masters programs.
  • Open to applicants in course-based study programs.
  • Open to applicants in thesis-based study programs.


How to apply

By nomination only. Students should contact their department for details on their application process. Nominations are submitted to GPS by the Department (or Faculty) and will be part of a competitive adjudication. The Graduate Scholarship Committee makes the final decision.
