Eligibility

  • Nominee must have completed the PhD program course work with satisfactory academic standing
  • Nominee is registered in an education department within the Faculty of Education
  • Nominee is of Aboriginal descent as defined by the Constitution Act, 1982, Section 35(2) or is accepted by one of the Aboriginal peoples of Canada as a member of their community
  • Nominee must have completed the Candidacy Exam
  • Nominee must have a firm expectation of completing their dissertation within 2-4 months of receiving the award
  • This award is paid out as a one-time payment
  • Open to Canadian citizens.
  • Open to permanent residents.
  • Open to foreign nationals holding Canadian study permits.
  • Open to applicants in doctoral programs.
  • Open to applicants in thesis-based study programs.


How to apply

By nomination only. Students should contact their department for details on their application process. Nominations are submitted to GPS by the Department (or Faculty). The Graduate Scholarship Committee makes the final decision.
