E Haave-Audet

3) "Why is it important for you to share your research in French"?
The academic and scientific research worlds are dominated by the English language, thus sharing my research in French opens my work up to a new audience. I am a proud Franco-Albertan, so French is even more a part of my identity than the research I conduct. This event gives me an opportunity to express my passion for the work I conduct in a language that connects me to my family and my community. My research is unequivocally my own, as is my francophone heritage, both of which I am incredibly proud. Now I get to showcase my work while engaging with my French-speaking community, which is typically distinct and separate from my academic life: I am so excited to acknowledge both these aspects of my identity at this event!
