Do you see yourself as a possible mentor? We are currently recruiting graduate students who are willing to mentor high achieving Grade 11 and 12 students. The time commitment largely depends on the schedules of the mentor and the mentee. The mentor and the mentee can choose to meet face-to-face or stay in touch through email, phone, or text. Mentoring will start with the Meet the Mentor Day (details below) where the high school students will get a chance to meet their mentors in person.
1. Meet the Mentor Day
When: November 24, 2017 (9:30 am - 11:30 am)
Where: ED 164
If you are interested, please email Saad at firstname.lastname@example.org stating your research/work interests.
2. WP Wagner Mentorship Panel
Every year the FGSR hosts a panel of graduate students who will be asked to briefly explain their research projects to Grade 10 students. The purpose of this initiative is to provide high school students with a glimpse of possibilities the world (and the UofA) has to offer. It is an excellent opportunity for graduate students to showcase their research to a lay audience as well as inspire high school students towards a successful career of their choosing.
When: December 6, 2017 (9:00 am – 12:00 pm) (shifts: 9:00-10:30am, 10:30am - 12:00pm)
Where: W.P. Wagner Library (rides provided)
If you are interested, please email Saad at email@example.com stating your research/work interests and whether you will be able to attend for the whole day.
