The FGSR Community Volunteer Program offers graduate students in the arts, sciences, and professional programs an opportunity to share their knowledge, experiences, and expertise with the community.
Volunteer activities supported by the FGSR Volunteer Program are grouped in two general categories:
How Graduate Students Benefit
- Academic Recognition
Students have their volunteer experiences identified in their academic records and these activities may be taken into consideration for scholarship and awards.
- Practical Teaching Experience
Graduate students gain practical teaching experience from volunteer activities before entering the workplace.
- Networking Opportunities
Students connect with other researchers, use their evaluation experiences from judging towards writing better grants, and are rewarded by renewed interest in their area of research.
