Introduce yourself:

I am fourth year PhD candidate in Pediatrics. Alongside a love for everything science. I am also a huge mental health advocate, a gamer, and an avid crocheter.

What are you researching and what do you hope comes out of your research?

I am researching myocardial ketone metabolism in the setting of heart failure and I hope to help explain more therapeutic strategies to treat heart failure via targeting cardiac metabolism.

How did presenting a Three Minute Thesis (3MT) help explain your research?

Participating in 3MT helped me explain my research by grounding me in what is the most important take-home message from my research.

Define "For the Public Good" in your own words.

"For the Public Good" is practicing community-level altruism.

What inspires you to do research?

A never-ending supply of questions and the unknown! The excitement of figuring out the 'why' and 'how'. I love reading, writing, and most importantly, asking questions.

If you have to dedicate your research to anyone from the past, present, or future, who would it be and why?

My amazing PhD mentors — Dr. Garry Lopaschuk and Dr. John Ussher.

3MT Keywords: ketone; heart; metabolism
