I am a Master’s student in the Department of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging. I finished my medical degree in 2014 at the Universidad de Guadalajara (Guadalajara, Mexico). From 2014-2018, I did a medical specialty in radiology at the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition “Salvador Zubiran” (Mexico City, Mexico).
What are you researching and what do you hope comes out of your research?
I am investigating the outcomes of pediatric liver transplant recipients and their relationship with the values obtained from the assessment of the liver vasculature using Doppler ultrasound.
The objective of this research is to help accurately target patients at high-risk for complications either to avoid unnecessary work-up to provide prompt management and hopefully, increasing their chances of survival.
How did presenting a Three Minute Thesis (3MT) help explain your research?
Presenting a 3MT helped me synthesize the absolute crucial information of my project, in addition to clarifying and truly understanding the impact of my research.
By presenting this information to a general audience in a brief and simplified language, I believe the impact of my research project has increased.
Define "For the Public Good" in your own words.
It means to share open-handedly my work for the potential benefit of all. I believe that all things are related in multiple ways, including science. By sharing our experiences and knowledge to others, we are fortifying the undeniable human interconnections that unite us all.
What inspires you to do research?
I have three things that inspire me to do research. First, the opportunity to make a positive change in the world through the results of my work. Second, the challenge of finding solutions to real-life problems. Lastly, the possibility of working with others and learning as much as I can.
If you have to dedicate your research to anyone from the past, present, or future, who would it be and why?
I believe that donation is one of the kindest and selfless acts a human can do. This is why I dedicate my research to all past and future organ donors.
