    2011 CSA National Call-Ups or Professional Signings

    Congratulations to former Green and Gold/Golden Bears soccer players being selected to national squads or professional teams:
    • Sadi Jalali (Edmonton Juventus) for being selected to Canada's U-17 National Team camp for training camp, including international friendly matches against Costa Rica, held in San Jose, Costa Rica in early January. 
    • Tim Hickson (Whitecaps Residency Program) for being selected to Canada's U-18 National Team for training camp and  international friendly matches played against Costa Rica on January 25 and 27 in San Jose, Costa Rica.
    • Eddy Sidra and Randy Edwini-Bonsu were selected to take part in Canada's men's U-23 /Olympic team training camp held January 13-22 in Phoenix, AZ, USA.

    Golden Bears and Green & Gold soccer players making their mark at the national and professional level

    Former Golden Bear and Green & Gold soccer player Eddy Sidra will once again suit up for Canada's men's national team during an exhibition game against Venezuela on May 29. Almost one year after earning his first cap for Canada, former University of Alberta Golden Bears' soccer player Eddy 

    Sidra, an Edmonton native and graduate of Austin O'Brien High School, earned his first international cap during Team Canada's 2-1 win over Cyprus on May 30, 2009. 

    The 5'7" Sidra helped the Bears win their fourth National title in 2006-07 when they defeated Trinity Western University 1-0 at Foote Field in Edmonton. He scored two goals and four points while playing all 14 games during 2006-07 Canada West regular season, while notching one assist in five Canada West and CIS playoff games.

    Golden Bears or recent Green and Gold players Jas Gill, Harman Braich, Sam Lam, Antonio Rago, Shaun Saiko, Matt Lam and Milan Timotijevic are presently practicing with the newly formed FC Edmonton squad that will play in the North American Soccer League (NASL) in 2011.
