Maureen Carroll is Professor of Roman Archaeology at the University of Sheffield in England. She has excavated at numerous Roman sites in Germany and Britain and since 2012 has directed excavations at Vagnari in South Italy. Her research interests include the Roman family, Roman funerary practices, identity and ethnicity, and Roman gardens. Her most recent book is Infancy and Earliest Childhood in the Roman World. 'A Fragment of Time' (Oxford University Press, 2018).
