Hostile Terrain exhibit coordinated by Professor Heilman now open to the public

28 February 2021

The Hostile Terrain exhibit coordinated by Professor Jaymie Heilman is now up and running in FAB gallery on the UofA campus. An amazing group of 300 UofA students, faculty, staff, and other Edmontonians completed 3295 tags, each one honoring a migrant who lost their life crossing the US/Mexico border in Arizona. Inside FAB, you'll see the map itself, drone footage of the Sonora desert, and you'll hear people from around the world reading out the names of the same people we are honoring and remembering in the exhibit. One workshop participant drew some exceptionally beautiful tributes on the backs of the tags she completed, and photos of those tags are featured as well.

To visit the exhibit, you will have to book an appointment first. You can do so via phone at 780-492-2081 or by sending an email to gallery@ualberta.ca. FAB's hours are Tuesday through Friday, from 12-5pm. Admission is free and open to anyone with an appointment.
