Course Information

 

Undergraduate students will register in: 

CLASS 475 - FIELD TECHNIQUES IN CLASSICAL ARCHAEOLOGY

Students will be trained in:

  • The archaeology of Roman villas
  • The archaeology of the Roman Sabina
  • Excavation techniques
  • Site recording
  • The handling, processing and preserving of site materials, such as mosaics, painted wall plaster, pottery, human remains and small finds.

AND

CLASS 476 - ADVANCED FIELD TECHNIQUES IN CLASSICAL ARCHAEOLOGY

Students will be trained in:

  • Post-excavation management
  • Pottery analysis
  • 3D recording techniques
  • In-situ conservation (mosaics and wall paintings)

NB! These courses will partially fulfill the requirements for the BA with a major in Classics, BA with minor in Classics and the Faculty of Arts Certificate in International Learning.

 

Graduate students will register in:

CLASS 601 and CLASS 602

  • Students will work on independent study topics
