Ailsa Heathcote Walker Memorial Prize

Criteria: To be awarded annually to a student who has first class standing in HIST 260 or HIST 261 and who achieves the highest grade in either HIST 260 (Introduction to the Study of Canadian History 1500 - 1867) or HIST 261 (Introduction to the Study of Canadian History 1867 to Present). In the event of a tie, the recipient will be chosen on the basis of the overall grade point average.

Barbara Fraser Memorial Prize

Criteria: To be awarded annually to a student with satisfactory academic standing enrolled in the Honors History program. Recipient will be chosen on the basis of a written paper that is determined to be outstanding in any 400-level History course.

Blackley Long Scholarship in British History

Criteria: Awarded to a student who has achieved the highest grade in a 400-level British History course. Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic standing.

Doris Schuh Award in Western Canadian History

Criteria: Awarded to a student with satisfactory academic standing entering the third or fourth year of study for a Bachelor of Arts with a major in History. Selection based on demonstrated interest in Western Canadian History and academic standing. Recipient must not have received other awards in the field of History in the same year.

Eugene Brody Scholarship in History

Criteria: To be awarded annually to the Student entering the third year of the History in the Honors or BA Special programs with the highest grade point average in the first two years, providing that first class standing is attained.

George Malcolm Smith Memorial Book Prize

Criteria: Awarded to a student of outstanding merit in Modern European History, provided that the student attained first-class standing in the course, carried a full year's work and passed all his or her other subjects.

Colonel Gilbert Edward Sanders Memorial Scholarship

Criteria: To be awarded annually to students with superior academic achievement entering the third or fourth year of a degree program in the Faculty of Arts, majoring in Western Canadian History. Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic standing and financial need.

Harold W. Riley Memorial Scholarship

Criteria: Offered annually to a student of outstanding merit who has shown a special interest in the history of Western Canada, provided the student's record is otherwise satisfactory and provided the recipient is returning as an undergraduate student in the next academic year.

Henry Gerrie Ward Prize in Western Canadian History

Criteria: To be awarded annually to a student who has written the best essay in any 400-level History course on a topic in Western Canadian history. Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic standing and the potential to contribute to the historiography of Western Canada. In the event that two students are deemed to be of equal standing, financial need will also be taken into consideration.

James Barrington Prize in Southeast Asian History

Criteria: To be awarded annually to the student who attains the highest standing in East Asian Studies. This prize may be awarded to a full-time, part-time or convocating student.

John Henry Stanley Memorial Prize

Criteria: Awarded to a full-time continuing or convocating undergraduate student with superior academic achievement in a minimum of two Canadian History courses and a major in History. Selection based on academic standing.

Marilyn R. Love Scholarship in History
Value: $12000 renewable (payable over enrollment in the Honors Program)

Criteria: To be awarded annually to a Canaidan citizen or permanent resident with superior academic achievement entering the second year of the Bachelor of Arts Honors in History degree. Selection is based on academic standing. Renewals are based on superior academic achievement and continuation in the Honors in History degree.

Mary Trumpener Scholarship in History

Criteria: Awarded to a student with superior academic entering any year of an undergraduate degree in the Faculty of Arts majoring in History. Selection based on demonstarted interest in central European History, and academic standing.

Morden Heaton Long Memorial Prize in Honors History

Criteria: Offered to the third year honors student with the best record, conditional upon the student's registration in the fourth year of Honors History.

Phillip Lawson Memorial Essay Prize

Criteria: To be awarded to a student with superior academic standing entering the third or fourth year in the Faculty of Arts majoring in History. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of academic standing and through the best written essay in British History. Preference will be given to essays involving empire or colonial issues.

Right Honourable Pierre Elliott Trudeau Prize in Canadian History

Criteria: Awarded to the third year undergraduate student with superior academic standing who attains the highest achievement in a Canadian History course.

Robert T.E. McLaughlin and Mary Janet (neé Matheson) McLaughlin Award in Canadian History

Criteria: Awarded to a student with satisfactory academic standing entering the third or fourth year of study for a Bachelor of Arts in History. Selection based on demonstrated interest in the field of Canadian history, academic standing and demonstrated community involvement on campus or in the community-at-large. The recipient must have completed a minimum of one Canadian history course and be registered in a minimum of one Canadian history course.

Ross William Collins Memorial Prize

Criteria: Awarded to a student of outstanding merit in Renaissance and Reformation History provided the student achieves first class standing in the courses and the student's other work is satisfactory.

S.W. Field Prize in History

Criteria: To be awarded annually for the best Honors essay by a convocating student in Honors History. A committee headed by the Honors Advisor will judge the essays.

Trenholme Dickson and Letita S Dickson Prize

Criteria: Awarded to an undergraduate student with superior academic standing who attains the highest achievement in a Canadian History course.

Prairie History Medal

Criteria: To be awarded annually to a graduating student majoring in History on the basis of achievement in two full courses in Canadian History, at least one of which must be in Western Canadian History. Overall academic performance must be satisfactory to the Department.
