Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)

Before hiring a foreign national to work at the University of Alberta, you may require a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) from Employment and Social Development Canada.

Please submit via email or inter-office mail a completed application to Immigration Services, which includes: 

  1. Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) LMIA Coversheet & Checklist
  2. LMIA Application (ESDC-EMP5626)
  3. Job postings
  4. Advertising invoices
  5. Current salary scale for the position
  6. Current Part B - Supplementary Conditions of agreement for the position
  7. Employment Declaration (for assistance, contact Immigration Services)
  8. Employment contract or letter of offer

For Non-Academic Positions, also include Non-Academic Staff Association Consultation Formif applicable (original)
