Effective immediately, all academic, support and excluded staff positions funded from operating or non-restricted funds cannot be advertised or hired without the prior written approval of the Provost or Vice-President (Finance and Administration). Recruitment at the University of Alberta is decentralized, which means each individual faculty, department and unit is responsible for their own recruitment processes.

Recruitment Services is responsible for providing expert consultation, advice and assistance on recruitment practices in support of the university's overall employment strategies.
