Benefit Costs
The cost of your pension and benefit plans makes up a significant portion of your total compensation as an employee of the University of Alberta. Health Spending Account | Reimbursement of additional health and dental expenses not eligible under the employee's other benefit plans. Annual allocation of $750 per calendar year per staff member. Long Term Disability | Loss of income in the event of a long-term disability. Benefit is 70% of salary and is considered taxable income. The University's Health and Wellness Administration initiates the claim process. Application for benefits occurs after 26 weeks elimination period. Life Insurance Basic | Provides a lump sum to the designated beneficiary(ies) in the event of death $100,000 flat coverage amount.
