Alberta Health Care First of the month following your marriage date Contact Alberta Health and Wellness .
Supplementary Health and Dental Care As of the day of your marriage Access Employee Self Service to update dependent information and Benefit Enrollments.
Insurance Plan(s) As of the day of your marriage Access Employee Self Service to update Beneficiary information. A completed Beneficiary Designation and/or Voluntary Accident Insurance Plan form must be submitted to HRS.
Pension Plan As of the day of your marriage Complete the Pension Partner Form (PSPP) , the appropriate Designation of Beneficiary Form (PSPP  or UAPP ), and provide a certified true copy of your marriage certificate.
Name Change Your choice Complete Change of Name  Form
Residence Change Your choice

Establishing a Common-Law Relationship

A common-law partner is defined as a person of the opposite or same sex who is living in your household and who has been reasonably established to have been resident with you for a period of at least one year and who has been maintained and publicly represented by you as your partner in a marriage-like relationship.

Alberta Health Care First of the month following your 3 years cohabitation Contact Alberta Health and Wellness .
Supplementary Health and Dental Care 1 year from start of cohabitation Access Employee Self Service to update dependent information and Benefit Enrollment.
Insurance Plan(s) Your choice Access Employee Self Service to update Beneficiary information. A completed Beneficiary Designation and/or Voluntary Accident Insurance Plan form must be submitted to HRS.
