Overview

METU's Summer Term is open to all international students and offers a wide range of courses, all taught in English. Courses offered include offered include technical and science courses, some of which involve field work. Students can also take "Beginning Turkish I", an intensive Turkish language course and/or "Contemporary Turkey: Turkish State and Society", a course on Modern Turkey.

Summer School courses are also attended by METU students. All courses have Turkish students in each class giving the visiting Summer School students an opportunity to meet local students.

METU's Summer Term (June 29 - August 15, 2016) is open to all international students. Students from METU's partner universities are especially welcomed. A wide range of courses from METU's catalog, all taught in English, are offered, including technical and science courses, some of which involve field work.


Fees & Costs

Education Abroad Application Fee: $250.00 CAD

Program Fee (EXCH 811)*: $1,260.87 CAD

Accommodation: $800.00 - $900.00 USD (approx. $893.30 - $1,005.29 CAD)

METU Orientation Fee: $40.00 USD (approx. $44.68 CAD)

TOTAL PROGRAM COST: Approx. $2,460.99 - $2,572.98 CAD

Fees are subject to change without notice *Reflects Spring/Summer 2016 Ualberta fee index, incl. non-instructional fees, for Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents. International students will be subject to the additional International Differential Fee. Students are responsible for their own travel arrangements to Ankara.

Students are also responsible for any additional costs including visa fees, vaccinations, medical coverage, books and supplies, extra food costs, entertainment and incidental expenses.


Housing

Participants are accommodated in campus dormitory, two per room. Rooms will be in METU's newest dormitories. The summer school dormitory has a shared laundry and a kitchen. There are also TV sets and internet connection in each room. In addition, hot water is available all day. Canteen in this dormitory is open from 8:00 AM until 23:00 PM. Additionally, students can choose from a variety of eating places on the campus, at reasonable prices.
