Eligibility Requirements
Open to: All Faculties
Level: Undergraduate
Undergraduate students from all academic disciplines at UAlberta are eligible.
The working language for the entire program will be Chinese-participants must have a high proficiency level of spoken and written Chinese.
Participants must feel comfortable listening to presentations, working on research projects, and conducting interviews in Mandarin Chinese.
Additional eligibility requirements:
- Successful completion of at least 2 years of studies at UAlberta by June 2015.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on the last 15 courses.
Program Information
Language of Instruction: English
This is a non-credit program.
The curriculum includes three major modules:
- Invited Presentations from accomplished Chinese economists, scientists, entrepreneurs, and politicians.
- Research projects for high-profile Chinese companies, challenging participants to provide solutions to real-world business problems.
- On-site learning opportunities, including visits to top Chinese companies and state key labs, plus meetings and interviews with successful investors, entrepreneurs and industry leaders.
Topics covered:
- Economic development reform and reorganization in China.
- China's foreign trade and international investment.
- Technological invention and innovation transfer.
- China's energy & natural resource strategy and development.
- Considerations for future economic development models for China.
- Social, environmental and educational challenges for China's future growth.

Fees & Costs
- Program & application fee: approximately $2,450 CAD* (payable if approved to participate).
- Students are also responsible for all other costs such as accommodation, food, insurance, books, flights/transportation, as well as other personal expenses.
- Each selected participant will be eligible to receive $1000 in scholarship funds.
