Overview

The Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona Summer School is the best way to enjoy the experience of an international, green, and dynamic campus while having the opportunity to discover the city of Barcelona. The UAB Summer School offers courses in two, three-week periods from late June to early August. Most of the courses are taught in English and you will also get the chance to learn and improve your Spanish as a Foreign Language.

Please ensure to check our COVID-19 Travel Policies website. A decision will be made in February if University travel will be allowed for Summer 2021. This program will switch to online if the situation does not allow the partner to offer the program in person.

Program Information

Language of Instruction: English

1st Period | June 21 - July 9, 2021 | €850 per course
All courses taught are worth 6 ECTS (equivalent to 3* credits at the University of Alberta). Course offerings include:

  • Contemporary Challenges in International Relations
  • Diseases of Marine Mammals 
  • Ecological Economics and Degrowth Principles
  • Español como Lengua Extranjera (A1 MCER) / Spanish as a Foreign Language (A1 CEFR) 
  • European Economic Integration
  • Gastronomy & Oenology
  • Geography of Global Change
  • How the Brain Works
  • Leadership, Negotiation Techniques
  • Project Design Based on Mediterranian Biodiversity 
  • Psychological First Aid
  • Resources for Teaching and Learning English in Infant and Primary Education
  • Urban Performing Arts
  • Visiones de la España Contemporánea a través del Cine / Contemporary Spain through the Eye of the Movie Camera (in Spanish)

Students have the option to also take an afternoon class from 3pm - 5pm for an additional fee of €280

  • Complimentary Spanish Basic (Level A1)

2nd Period | July 13 - July 31, 2020| €840 per course
All courses taught are worth 6 ECTS (equivalent to 3* credits at the University of Alberta). Course offerings include:

Fees & Costs

Education Abroad Nomination Fee: $250.00 CAD

Cost per period - €850 per course

  • An afternoon Spanish language class can be taken during period one for an additional fee of €280
