Overview

Leeds International Summer School (LISS) offers you the opportunity to study at the University of Leeds and immerse yourself in British culture as part of an exciting four-week programme. Taking advantage of the vibrant , student friendly city of Leeds, and the rich history, culture and natural beauty of the area, the summer school combines world-class tuition with local knowledge, academic related field trips, and a wide variety of social activities.

When Can I Go?

Terms Offered: Summer

Dates & Duration: The program runs in 2 blocks. 

Block one June 29 - July 13, Block two July 14 - 27, 2024.  You can participate in both blocks or in just one. Each two week block is equivalent to 3 UofA credits.

Earn credit and choose from academic subject areas including Arts & Humanities, Business, Communication, Computing, Design, Engineering, Politics & International Studies, Sciences and Social Sciences : www.leeds.ac.uk/summerstudy

The Leeds International Summer school website has information about all of the courses that will be available in 2024.

Through experiential learning and field trips, you will spend lots of time outside of the classroom, enjoying hands-on learning that will give you insights into British culture, history and society. Each module includes at least one field trip to support what you have learned in the classroom; destinations include Castle Howard in York, the Brontë Parsonage in Haworth and the cities of Manchester and Liverpool.

Cultural Excursions and Social Events

The summer school has a busy social program to help you make the most of your time in Leeds as well as further afield. Previous socials and excursions have included welcome and farewell events, a pub quiz, karaoke, an afternoon visit to Harewood House and full-day excursions to York, Whitby, the Yorkshire Dales and more besides!

University of Leeds Credit Information

If you are interested in attending Leeds for 2024, join one of their upcoming information sessions. Sessions are on the following dates: November 28 & 30, January 9 & 11, February 13 & 15, March 12 & 14 and April 16 & 18. Please use the this Leeds website to join the live event. 


Fees & Costs

Education Abroad Nomination Fee: $250 CAD
Leeds program fee: £3,725 for the entire 4-week program or £2,065 for block one or block two for a 2 week program. 

An early discount is available for applications received by 1 April.  £75 off 1 block

Scholarships are also available.
