Travel Information for Family Members

Family Members That Can Travel to Canada During COVID:

Immediate Family Members of International Students:

IRCC defines Immediate family members as:

  • Spouse or common-law partner
  • Dependent child
  • Parent or step-parent
  • Guardian

While Immediate family members are exempt from current travel restrictions, they may or may not be allowed to take their connecting flight to Edmonton, depending on their vaccination status. Visit the Travel Canada website to determine whether you/your immediate family member is considered fully vaccinated.

Immediate family

If over 18 years of age
They must qualify for the fully vaccinated traveller exemption or meet another exemption to travel to Canada.

If under the age of 18 years or a dependent adult
If they’re not fully vaccinated, they’ll need certain documents to demonstrate that they meet an exemption when they travel.
