Dear colleagues,

We must start with some very sad news.

Many of you have already heard that Dr. Margaret-Ann Armour passed away on Saturday, May 25th. Those of you who attended the RIG launch will remember her fierce enthusiasm and warm grace as she gave a presentation on merely a fraction of the many programs she initiated to encourage young girls, their parents and their teachers toward STEM fields. She founded Women in Scholarship, Engineering, Science, and Technology program (WiSEST) and had a school founded in her name. She won multiple awards and honours for her outstanding and steadfast contribution to the field of Science, building institutions that recognized the crucial role diversity plays in Science better. Below we share some of the many tributes celebrating her.

Margaret-Ann's work inspires us all to continue meeting the ongoing challenge of nurturing diversity on campus and beyond. She will be greatly missed.

Sincerely,

Dr. Dia Da Costa
Associate Director
Intersections of Gender

The celebration of her life will be held at the Dr. Margaret-Ann Armour School, 3815 Allan Drive in Edmonton, Wednesday, June 12 at 7 p.m.
