Events

Our organization hosts a number of events ever year to bring community together but most importantly, to highlight the impact of our programming. We also work together with community members to help sustain the amazing programs and services we provide to the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

Pride Week

Pride Week celebrates the University of Alberta's 2SLGBTQ+ community. The events and celebrations are planned and created by the Fyrefly Institute team alongside students, staff, faculty members, groups, units, organizations, and individuals across U of A campuses. Everyone is welcome and invited to participate - host an event in your area of campus, attend a workshop, walk in the parade, celebrate being 2SLGBTQ+, support your colleagues and friends!

Pride Week happens in mid-March of each year. The Pride Week planning committee begins mid-October. Previous experience is not needed.

Mayor's Pride Brunch

The Mayor's Pride Brunch is an annual fundraising event for our Programs.The brunch brings together community members, organizations, and leaders to celebrate the impact of our programming.

Met Gala of the North

The Met Gala of the North is an annual fundraiser for Fyrefly Institute programming. Inspired by the fashion event of the year, The Met Gala, we incorporate the yearly theme for a fun, bright evening with special musical guests for a night to support community. In 2019, our special guest was award winning Canadian Musician Jann Arden. Edmontonians are invited to dress in their best costumes and celebrate the night away for a great cause.
