Brief Biographies

Madeleine Dion Stout, RN, MA

Madeleine Madeleine Dion Stout was born and raised on the Kehewin First Nation in Alberta. Madeleine is self employed as the President of Dion Stout Reflections Inc. She adopts a Cree lens in her research, writing and lectures on First Nations, Inuit  and Métis health. In 2010 she won the National Aboriginal Achievement Award in the health category.

     

Gary Goldsand, MA 

Gary Goldsand is a Clinical Ethicist with Alberta Health Services based at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, and an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and the John Dossetor Health Ethics Centre.





Malcolm King, PhD, FCCP

Malcolm King 

Malcolm King is Professor in the Department of Medicine and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of Alberta, and Scientific Director, CIHR Institute of Aboriginal Peoples’ Health. Malcolm is a member of the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation.

     

Brendan Leier, PhD

Brendan Leier is the Clinical Ethicist at the University of Alberta Hospital, Stollery Children’s Hospital and Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, with an appointment to the John Dossetor Health Centre.

     

Victoria Seavilleklein, PhD

Victoria Seavilleklein

 

Victoria Seavilleklein is a Clinical Ethicist in Alberta Health Services’ Central Zone and a Clinical Lecturer with the John Dossetor Health Ethics Centre. Prior to working with Alberta Health Services, Victoria was the Ethicist & Policy Director with the Provincial Health Ethics Network.

     

Dick Sobsey, EdD

Dick Sobsey

 

Dick Sobsey is a Professor Emeritus of Educational Psychology and the John Dossetor Health Ethics Centre. Dick has worked to improve health care, educational opportunities, and social conditions for people with disabilities and their families since 1968.

 
     

Eric Wasylenko, MD, BSc

Eric Wasylenko

 

Eric Wasylenko is a palliative care physician and Medical Director, Clinical Ethics, Alberta Health Services. Eric is also a practicing ethicist. He holds an appointment as Clinical Lecturer in the Division of Palliative Medicine, University of Calgary, and Clinical Lecturer, John Dossetor Health Ethics Centre.
