Hugh Hoyles Student Life Award

The Hugh Hoyles Student Life Award is awarded annually as a $500 bursary. The Award is given to a student(s) who has been devoted to leadership, interest, and participation in Campus & Community Recreation and student life activities; demonstrated a commitment to enhancing recreational experiences for students, alumni, faculty.

Campus Recreation Enhancement Fund

This Fund was created to ensure that high quality recreation programs, equipment and facilities remain diverse, accessible and affordable for University of Alberta students. Application to the Campus Recreation Enhancement Fund is available to organizations providing a positive impact on student life through recreational opportunities at the University of Alberta. The request must facilitate active for life opportunities for University of Alberta students.

The Campus Recreation Enhancement Fund application period is now open for the 2019-2020 funding year. Applications will be accepted until February 20, 2019 at 11:59 pm. If you have any questions or inquiries, please feel free to contact the CREF committee chair at racchair@ualberta.ca.

• Ensure the CREF application form is filled out in its entirety.

• Answer each question to the best of your abilities.

 

Returning applicants

• Ensure the CREF application form is filled out in its entirety

• Answer each question to the best of your abilities.

• Those with 2017-2018 funds remaining must apply to have their funding rolled-over to the 2019-2020 funding year. Include a request, in writing, to roll-over your remaining funds with your 2019-2020 CREF application. This request letter must outline your organization's total funds remaining and describe a plan to use the remaining funds. Funds may only be rolled-over once in their lifespan.

• 2017-2018 funding not rolled-over will be dissolved into the 2019-2020 CREF total allocation.

• Those seeking to re-allocate their 2017-2018 or 2018-2019 funding must submit their request to do so, in writing, with their 2019-2020 CREF application. Re-allocation requests cannot be for items denied when said funding was initially disbursed or for projects already receiving other Students' Union funding, awards, transportation, or supplementing U of A staff wages. Funds may only be reallocated twice during their lifespan.

CREF is funded by University of Alberta Undergrad Students.

How does this fund benefit me?

The Campus Recreation Enhancement Fund (CREF) was created to help ensure that the high quality of Campus & Community Recreation programs, equipment, and facilities remains diverse, convenient, accessible, equitable, and affordable to all University of Alberta Students' Union members. Recreation for all on campus is an integral part of a positive University of Alberta experience. Organizations and departments that apply for funding from CREF must show that their request will have a positive impact on the student’s life at the University of Alberta.

In 2017, CREF had thirty-nine applications from student associations, program areas and organizations. Some of the programs and projects that CREF subsidized and supported that were delivered by Campus & Community Recreation had over 35,000 UofA students registrants in 2017-2018 in areas of group fitness, intramurals, clubs sports, aquatics, skating, climbing and instructional recreation.

Who can apply?

Anyone within the University of Alberta community! Recreation for all on campus is an integral part of a positive University of Alberta experience. Those organizations and departments that apply for funding from the Campus Recreation Enhancement Fund must show that their request will have a positive impact on student life at the University of Alberta. The request must facilitate a healthy and active lifestyle for the University of Alberta student union members.
