Located within the Physical Activity and Wellness Centre, the Social Street is an atrium-like structure that was added in 2015 to connect new buildings to existing buildings. Incorporating students services and gathering spaces, the Social Street, by nature of its design, activates and energizes a pedestrian thoroughfare that will serve as a major access point to the campus.
The Social Street connects the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation's; West Wing (Main Gym, Clare Drake Arena, West Pool, multi-purpose spaces, classrooms, Campus & Community Recreation offices and the Steadward Centre); East Wing (Classrooms, Lecture Theaters, Squash and Racket Courts, Gym, Academic Offices and Lab spaces); Universiade Pavilion (Butterdome, Athletics Office and Academic Offices), University Hall (Dean's Office, Academic Offices, Graduate Student Spaces and Student Services Office) and the new Hanson Fitness and Lifestyle Centre and Wilson Climbing Centre together in one large complex, the Van Vliet Complex.
The space features ample seating areas, expansive open spaces, an abundance of natural light, viewing windows into the Main Gym and a third level viewing area and pedway.
The Social Street offers the ideal space for a large reception event on campus!
