The Wilson Climbing Centre hosted their annual rope climbing competition, Rope Rumble, in association with the Alberta Climbing Association (ACA) earlier this month to much success.
An action-packed weekend of competition climbing that was originally was scheduled to be a one-day event (with two rounds of climbing) quickly became a full-blown, two-day event with four rounds of climbing.
Being that the Wilson Climbing Centre was designed and equipped in such a way to facilitate these types of larger scale events,and their team being very passionate about competition climbing being an asset, the realization was clear that in order to better support and prepare Alberta`s competition climbers (Saskatoon`s climbing team even made the trip!) leading into Provincials and Nationals Rope Rumble should be extended to a two-day event. Four rounds of climbing needed to be offered to our athletes which would include the first event day with two rounds of qualification and the second day consisting of a morning semi finals and then a crowd pleasing finals in the afternoon.
