1. Where did you complete your practicum?

I completed my professional practicum with Campus Recreation Services at NAIT as a Student Recreation Assistant.

2. What did you find the most beneficial part of your practicum?

The most beneficial aspect of the practicum experience is definitely the opportunity for self-growth and social-networking. I had no idea how much I would grow as a person during my practicum experience. This is stuff you cannot learn from a book. You learn how to talk, listen, and manage your time, deal with conflict and much more in real-life situations which cannot be learned in a classroom setting. On the other hand, the number of people you will meet during your practicum will amaze you. These are connections that will benefit you in the future, therefore take every opportunity you can to meet someone new and learn something about them.

3. What advice would you give to future students?

Don't be afraid to make mistakes and step out of your comfort zone. Although you might want to be the perfect practicum student who knows everything, your agency supervisor knows you are there to learn. Mistakes are a part of this learning experience; they need to happen in order to teach you how to improve for next time so don't beat yourself down if you make one. Take every chance you get to be uncomfortable. We need to step outside our bubble in order to experience
