In December 2012, two Ukrainian folklore students at the Department of Modern Languages and Cultural Studies at the University of Alberta: Andreiv Choma, a master student in Ukrainian Folklore, and Daria Storoshchuk, a forth year undergraduate Ukrainian folklore major, participated in the International Contest in Ukrainian Studies for Students and Young Scholars organized by the Ukrainian National Institute of Ukrainian Studies and World History.

Both students' presentations made an outstanding impression on the adjudicators, other participants and everyone present. The topics of both presentations and analysis were viewed as rather unusual for Ukraine and extremely interesting. As a result, Daria won the first place among distant participants and scored the second among all the participant of the contest. Andreiv won the second place among distant presenters.

Congratulations Daria and Andreiv! We are very proud of your accomplishments!
