How to Pitch Op-Eds that Catch Media Interest
Participants learned and practiced how to pitch opinion-editorials to the media. In this workshop, Michel Proulx (Executive Director, News, and Editor, folio) shared practical information on what the media is looking for in a great op-ed, and best practices on how to develop and test potential article pitches.

Running a Research Econference
The KIAS team has hosted a series of 6 econferences bringing an average of over 40 research presentations for less than the cost of return air transport for 5 researchers - all while avoiding over 50 mT of CO2e per year. Participants learned ways to expand their research exposure, broaden their networks and promote their ideas through econferencing. The workshop outlined what is needed to organize an e-conference for a research community by reviewing topics like e-conference types, budgets, scheduling, promotion, and more.

Building a Website for a Research Project
The Arts Resource Centre (ARC) taught participants how to build a website for a research project using WordPress. ARC also provided information on different types of research websites, how to create pages, posts, and how to set up plugins, themes, Google Analytics and much more. Participants were also provided advice on resources and support available.
