Wilbur Fee Bowker Professor of Law
The Bowker Professorship honours the memory of Dean Emeritus Wilbur Fee Bowker, O.C., LL.D. (Hons.), K.C., who served as Dean of the Faculty of Law from 1948-1968 and was instrumental in the development of the law school as we know it today. Dean Bowker also played a key role in the creation of the Alberta Law Reform Institute in 1967 and served as the Institute’s first Director from 1968-1975. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Dean Bowker received the Order of Canada in 1990 and an honourary doctorate from the University of Alberta in 1992. He passed away in 1999 and in 2001 the Bowker Professorship was established in his memory. The Professorship is held by the individual currently serving as Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Paul D. Paton.
