Internationally Trained Lawyer Program – NCA Accreditation

Practicing Law In Canada

Lawyers who have obtained their law degree outside of Canada and wish to practice law in Canada can take advantage of the unique initiative offered by the University Of Alberta Faculty Of Law. The Internationally Trained Lawyers Initiative serves as an alternate route to the qualification and certification process to practice in Canada, and prepares internationally educated and trained lawyers to enter the Canadian legal profession.

Through the Canadian national accreditation initiative — known as the National Committee on Accreditation (NCA)—internationally trained lawyers, or international law graduates, can obtain the necessary equivalency qualifications to practice law in Canada with confidence.
