Raymond Bud Steen

First Law Graduate of University of Alberta to have refereed in the CFL for 30 years, officiated at 510 games & 7 Grey Cups
First Law Graduate to become the Chairman of the Board of Directors for CKUA Radio Foundation

  • 1983 - Admitted to the Bar
  • Practices Law in Edmonton, AB, Witten LLP
  • Refereed his final game on November, 2010 - his 7th Grey Cup - in Edmonton. The teams were - the Montreal Alouettes vs. the Saskatchewan Rough Riders, at Commonwealth Stadium
  • Bud’s crew was chosen to officiate at the 2010 Grey Cup because his crew was the highest rated officiating crew in the CFL, during the course of the season
  • 2011 - On his retirement from the field, Bus Steen became Edmonton’s League Supervisor and Evaluator
  • 1997 - 2003 – Bud was Chairman of the Board of Directors for CKUA Radio Foundation, after the previous directors resigned in favour of avid supporters of the not-for-profit broadcaster
  • Bud is currently the Edmonton Capital Campaign Chair for CKUA Radio Foundation - charged with raising funds for the acquisition and completion of CKUA’s new home, located in the rebuilt Alberta Hotel Building on Jasper Avenue, in Edmonton
