Zooming in on Covid-19 Symposium, Elevator Pitch & Poster Guidelines


Elevator pitches are a short oral presentation to be delivered live within one of the symposium sessions. Presenters will be contacted via email with further details if their abstract is chosen.

Elevator Pitch Requirements

  • 3-minute oral delivery
  • 1 (one) PowerPoint* title slide with the following:
    • Presentation Title
    • Presenter name
    • Co-author(s) (if applicable)
    • Primary Institution
  • 1 (one) PowerPoint* slide for all the content to be delivered in 3 minutes (no additional slides are permitted)
    • Avoid heavy use of text
    • Use of graphics / images / figures strongly encouraged
  • Participate in a 2-minute live question & answer period immediately following elevator pitch

*Note: Prezi or Google Slide will not be permitted

The elevator pitches will be judged by an adjudication committee. Awardees will be announced on Thursday, June 24 at 2 p.m. MT.


Poster presentations will be pre-recorded and uploaded to the event platform for audience viewing and judging. Poster presentations will be categorized under one of the symposium sessions. Theme and other details will be sent out to selected poster presenters via email.

Poster Creation Requirements

Your poster must adhere to the following requirements:

  • 48” × 36” with a horizontal orientation
  • Saved as a PDF file
  • There is no restriction on your poster structure, but we recommend the following:
    • Poster title (in bold, but do not capitalize all the letters)
    • Author(s) – presenter’s name must be underlined
    • Institution affiliation(s) and logo(s)
    • Background
    • Purpose
    • Method(s)
    • Result(s)
    • Conclusion(s)
    • Acknowledgements

Poster presentations need to be pre-recorded for a maximum of 3 minutes. The recordings of the poster presentations along with the PDF of the poster need to be uploaded to the event platform for viewing. Details on how to upload recordings and PDFs will be sent to poster presenters at a later date.

Poster Question and Answer Sessions

Attendees can send poster presenters questions throughout the symposium via a chat link. Presenters can then respond at their leisure; however, we request that questions be answered within a few hours.

Poster presenters will be asked to be available to respond to questions sent via chat. These expected response times are as follows:

  • Tuesday, June 22 from 1 – 1:30 p.m. MT
  • Wednesday, June 23 from 2 – 2:30 p.m. MT
The poster presentations will be judged by an adjudication committee. Awardees will be announced on Thursday, June 24 at 2 p.m. MT.
