Dive Graduate Leadership Cohort

Workshop with half the participants sitting in a circle and half standing in the middle doing a demonstration with the facilitator

Choose this stream if you want to focus on your own leadership challenges and develop your problem-solving skills.

The Dive stream is a workshop series that uses an adaptive leadership framework to develop your ability to tackle complex problems in your professional and personal worlds. An adaptive leadership framework helps students move beyond their technical expertise to increase their self-awareness and solve real-world problems.

During this innovative program, participants will work in an interdisciplinary cohort during monthly workshops to dive beneath the surface of their leadership failures and challenges to consider how their own experiences and histories contribute to them. The cohort is comprised of students selected from across campus through a competitive application process.

Dive participants have access to all workshops in the Wade stream. Throughout Dive, participants also receive support from alumni Divers who serve as PLLC Leadership Coaches and support the peer group meetings.

Feedback from Dive Participants

"I wasn't sure what to expect when I started Dive, and thought it would be just another line on my CV at best. I was pleasantly surprised to discover how wrong I was. Dive gave me a curriculum for how to lead, and a playbook for how to address the messy and deeply complex parts of leadership. Overall, I found my time in Dive to be one of the most educational and rewarding portions of my PhD so far, and I enthusiastically recommend it to anyone who is interested in becoming a better leader, in any area of their lives."

- Will Schultz, Ph.D Candidate, Department of Sociology

"No other aspect of my graduate studies offered this type of reflective discussion and applied learning. Dive was invaluable for me to critically think about my career path and my personal life goals. At the conclusion of this program, I left with new colleagues, great friendships, a renewed perspective on my academic and personal life path, and tools to analyze future situations to help me make choices that align with my values and goals."
- Lauren Albrecht, Ph.D Candidate, Department of Educational Psychology
