Community Engaged Research is a catalyst for social change. It does not mean turning communities into research sites; community partners are co-creators and interpreters of their reality. Community Engaged Research raises overall levels of informed debate on issues that will help redefine what is meant by “quality of life” for each culture.
Participatory Action Research
Participatory Action Research guides community partnerships that are committed to designing initial research questions (taking into account the objectives of the communities) and enhancing community capacity and quality of life.
The intellectual assets of Participatory Action Research and community partnerships contribute to knowledge generation, which increases community capacity for action and problem solving. The knowledge outcomes and products of these partnerships can improve community conditions, educational attainment, health and well-being, social inclusion, social capital, cultural understanding and economic growth.
