The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry is working to build relationships with organizations and individuals working in the area of inner city health. This includes community members who share the goal of increasing the responsiveness of the faculty to the inner city communities.
While “inner city” often denotes a geographical term, the faculty interprets this more broadly to include all marginalized and under-served communities within the city.
The Office of Inner City Health’s vision is to:
- Collaborate with others to give inner city communities a voice in our faculty
- Improve learner and faculty understanding of these communities’ needs through new medical education initiatives
- Work with the community and health-service delivery organizations to improve access to health care
- Ultimately improve health outcomes for members of these communities
