Li-Kwong Cheah is a chartered professional accountant with more than 9 years of rexperience working in higher education in senior managemen roles. Prior to joining the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta, Cheah was the director of Finance & Business Operations at Osgoode Professional Developments, a division of Osgoode Hall Law School at York University. He has previously worked for the University of Alberta, first as the assistant dean of Finance and Administration at Augustana campus, and then as senior financial officer, Learning Services at the North campus. There, he worked closely with the senior leadership team to implement the strategic plan and achieve the goals of the Learning Services portfolio. He also oversaw endowment funds, research funds and donations for University Libraries. He has been a member of several campus-wide committees, including the RCM budgeting working group, the Finance Management Committee, and the General Faculties Council.
Cheah is an accomplished business professional with significant experience in finance and operations, including budgeting, strategic planning, business transformation and process improvement. He has been recognized for his strong communication, collaborative and human resource management skills, providing cohesive operational support to universities and the private sector.
