International Projects: Dare to make a difference
The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry prides itself on being a model global citizen by contributing to the health of people in other areas of the world. Flagship international projects include the development of medical schools in Kenya and Nepal:
- Aga Khan University in Nairobi (AKUN), Kenya – The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry has made a significant, ongoing commitment to train doctors in Kenya. Two of our faculty members have played central roles in the establishment of a medical school at Aga Khan University and the development of the school’s medical curriculum. In addition, we are contributing to the development of a world-class cardiac sciences training program at the AKUN and the AKU Hospital in Nairobi.
- Patan Academy of Health Sciences in Katmandu, Nepal – Several members of our faculty are helping to build a high-calibre medical training program in Nepal that serves the people of Nepal, with a particular focus on rural populations. Watch a video on the Nepal project.
