with Dr. Vanessa Meier-Stephenson
Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021, 12:00 pm-12:50 pm

The WHO estimates over 296 million people are chronically infected with Hepatitis B virus (HBV). With over 800,000 deaths annually, largely from cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma, this silent killer doesn't get the attention it deserves. In this talk, we will: (1) Review some of the global impacts of HBV and role of the HBV vaccine, (2) Outline challenges around HBV's chronicity along with some unique approaches researchers are taking, and (3) Name one thing you can do to help contribute to "B-awareness".
