Global Health Rounds

Global Health rounds are held every second Monday starting September 19th through May at noon to 12:55 pm in room L1-140 ECHA. They are not scheduled on statutory holidays. Everyone is welcome to attend the live presentation.

The overall theme of rounds is health of the underprivileged, regardless of location, and addressing disparities. The subject matter ranges from consideration of diseases (ex. malaria or HIV) to the concern about specific populations (e.g., children, mothers or marginalized communities like Aboriginal peoples). The audience is encouraged to propose topics for future rounds.

Faculty members and students/residents undertaking global health research or programs, or research in related topics, will often make presentations. They have presented subjects as diverse as the impact of environmental change on sustainable health and the challenge of poverty in reaching the Millennium Development goals. Students of all the Health Sciences Faculties undertaking global health electives or field work are also encouraged to present their work.

Please contact GHFoMD@ualberta.ca for further information and to sign up to give a rounds.  The current schedule is found on the Calendar of Events and or Calendar of Conferences, Rounds & Symposium Events.
