Our DRIvE Days are scheduled at 8:00 am - 8:00 pm on Friday, April 21 & 7:45 am - 3:30 pm on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Walter Mackenzie Centre, University of Alberta Hospital. (please see detailed information under Venue).
During the DRIvE Days, the University of Alberta and Alberta Health Services will share our translational research and innovation with all individuals interested in Laboratory Services, Pathology and Diagnostics. In addition, numerous educational sessions and lectures will be provided for technical staff and students. The DRIvE Days will host the following three sessions:
Discovery & Research Session
In this session held on Friday morning, April 21, 2017, trainees will present novel research results generated in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology.
In this session held on Friday afternoon, April 21, 2017, recent innovations, new assays, platforms, and processes in Laboratory Services and Pathology in the Edmonton Zone will be presented.
On Saturday, April 22, 2017, educational lectures and seminars, held in parallel sessions, will offer knowledge up-dates relevant to the various sub-specialties of laboratory services and diagnostics.
Dr. John W. Macgregor & Dr. R.E. Bell Memorial Lectures
In addition to the sessions, two departmental lectures are featured during our DRIvE days. The Dr. J. W. Macgregor Memorial Lecture will be held on Friday afternoon, April 21, 2017. It is a tribute to Dr. Macgregor who was appointed as Chairman of the Department of Pathology in 1951 and held that position for 19 years until his retirement in 1970.
The Dr. R.E. Bell Memorial Lecture will be presented at lunch time on Saturday, April 22, 2017. It is a tribute to Dr. Bell who founded Alberta's first Department of Laboratory Medicine at the University of Alberta Hospital and established academic training programs in laboratory medicine and medical technology.
