The University of Alberta’s Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry upholds a continuous commitment to serve our communities and the public good in the area of health sciences through the development of research outcomes for precision health, preventative health care and services to better reach those who need it most.

We recognize the importance of driving research discovery toward real-life solutions that impact lives everywhere. Recently, the faculty has outlined its main goals and areas of focus in its 2016-2021 Strategic Plan, with innovation as one of the pillars supporting the future of the faculty and its strategic direction. As indicated in our plan, we are “fostering a culture of innovation that will generate transformational change in research and education in health and wellness.”

Working with valuable partners in the public and private sectors, the U of A’s Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry is keenly focused on maximizing the work of our scientists and clinicians through collaboration, building on advancements in “big data” access, integrating with new technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, as well as showcasing the breadth and depth of our active innovation ecosystem.

Our desire to innovate fuels the education of the next generation of health-care practitioners, challenging the way health issues are perceived and treated to improve our health system.

The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry’s pursuit of innovation contributes to the well-being of Canadians, and to global health.
