Faculty celebrates second year of international education accolades

Cambridge students union highlights the FoMD's education as one of the best

For the second year in a row, the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry's educational strengths are being highlighted by the Cambridge University Students' Union (CUSU) in its annual publication, Cambridge: Inspiring Innovation & Leadership, which profiles top-ranking educational institutions and companies around the world. The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry is the only medical school in North American identified in the publication.

The publication seeks to provide guidance to students, alumni and others seeking postgraduate and career opportunities by providing a venue for best-practice institutions to share their stories. In addition to being distributed to more than 30,000 Cambridge students, it is also sent to more than 45,000 organizations around the world.

"Broadly speaking, the principle considerations for selection include achievements, reputation, rankings, challenges faced and progress made," says Dhruti Patel, head of client relations for St. James's House, the publishing company that produces the publication.

The article focuses on the faculty's dedication to teaching excellence. In addition to highlighting the close link between medical education, arts and humanities, as well as the support available to medical students, the article also notes how faculty, like Sarah Forgie, aim to inspire their students instead of simply educating them.

"To be the only medical school in North America featured in the Cambridge University Students' Union publication for the second year in a row showcases that our faculty is a true champion of education excellence," says Richard Fedorak, interim dean of the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry. "This accomplishment highlights that our faculty members are dedicated to the art of medicine and the art of teaching, which, in turn, produces world-class physicians with a deep respect for the craft."
