The Teaching Scholars Program (TSP) is a series of eight online courses aimed primarily at clinicians working in the field of medical education. The courses provide faculty members a knowledgebase and skills set in educational theory, curriculum development, evaluation, writing, and medical education research. Although, the TSP course has been taught in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry (FoMD) since 2011 and Dr. Hodgson has more than 25 years of experience teaching this program, TSP-International is a new and exciting program being offered to our colleagues outside of Canada.
The FoMD Non-credit TSP-International Certificate in Medical Education Research & Teaching (TSP-I Certificate) will be offered after the completion of 5 TSP-I courses. The goals of the TSP-I program are: (1) develop educational leaders and scholars; (2) complete mentored projects; and (3) participate in a community of medical education scholars.
The full TSP-I Certificate requires completion of: (1) TSP–I 01; (2) two of the TSP-I research courses; and (3) two of the TSP-I teaching courses, The TSP-I 01 course is a prerequisite for all the other courses. (For more information about the TSP-I courses, please see the list of courses on page 8.)
There are two shorter options: the FoMD Non-credit TSP-I Medical Education Research Certificate which requires participation in TSP-I 01 and two TSP-I research courses. The other option is the FoMD Non-credit TSP-I Teaching Certificate which requires participation in TSP-I 01 and two TSP-I teaching courses.
