IDEAS Office - Innovation Discovery Education And Scholarship

Questions & Answers (Q & A)

Q. To participate in the program, do I need to take the full FoMD Non-credit TSP-International Certificate in Educational Research & Teaching with 5 courses?

A. There are multiple options, depending on your interests and time.  You can complete the full FoMD Non-credit TSP-International Certificate in Educational Research & Teaching or you may complete just the Research or Teaching certificates.

Q. Do I have to take all of the courses in sequence over one year?

A. No, your education can be flexible.  Once you have completed the prerequisite course, TSP-I 01, you can take the courses as they are offered or you can skip a course and take the next course you want when it is offered.

Q. How often is each course offered?

A. Each course will be offered once per year.  If you miss a course one year, you can take it the next year to complete your certificate.

Q. How much do each of the different certificate options cost?

A.  Please contact Dr. Carol Hodgson (carol.hodgson@ualberta.ca) for information about pricing.

Q. Are there any in-person sessions that will require travel to Canada?

A.  No, there is no expectation that participants need to travel to Canada for any of the courses.  Dr. Hodgson may travel to a university for the beginning of a TSP-I course if most or all of the students in the course are at one university.  There would be no extra cost to participants for this one-on-one interaction.

If someone wishes to collaborate with the IDEAS Office TSP-I team on a medical education study, it is possible that the participant(s) could travel to Edmonton Canada to work more closely with members of the medical education study team at the University of Alberta.
