Global Medical Summer Program

July 15 - August 19, 2019


The University of Alberta Global Medical Summer Program is a rich four (4)-week academic medical program offered by the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry to medical students from international partner universities. The program is limited to 30 students.

 

The program provides great opportunities:


  • Interactive medical course in a unique format
  • Meaningful exposure to the Canadian health-care system, including hospital, family medicine and clinical medical practices
  • Learning about Canadian society and culture
  • Meeting friends overseas with different cultural backgrounds

Curriculum

• Presentations about current topics in North American medical education • Mini Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)
• Physical exam sessions • Opportunity for clinical observership 
• Small group discussion • Rocky Mountain trip and local cultural tours
• Lab tours • Welcome dinner and faculty appreciation dinner

Eligibility

  • Clinical medicine students
  • Limited to students from Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry international partners

Program Fees

The program fee of CAD $4,800 per trainee includes:


  • Tuition and course materials
  • Medical insurance
  • Shared accommodation for four (4) weeks
  • Group airport transfer and city tours
  • Orientation and farewell events
  • Social activities (mountain trip)
