Overview:

Congenital heart disease is an exciting and evolving field of medicine. The cardiac pathophysiology and the medical and surgical treatment of heart disease in children differs markedly from adults. This elective will provide you with a perspective on the subspecialty of pediatric cardiology. You will be introduced to various aspects of pediatric cardiology, including the clinical care of pediatric patients, the use of non-invasive and invasive cardiac investigations (ECG, echocardiography, cardiac catheterization and angiography, cardiac MRI, and the medical and surgical management of congenital heart disease. You will also gain an overview of certain research aspects related to the area of pediatric cardiology.
