Overview:

This flexible elective gives you an in-depth look at bioethics.  The options range from: a reading course accompanied by discussions of the ethics issues in the literature (e.g. issues in reproductive ethics, geriatrics, neonatal problems, or human experimentation); or, direct experience of a specific practical problem in health care ethics by first-hand exposure; or, combinations of these.  Students would normally be required to focus their conclusions by writing a position paper, in the last week of the elective.

Objectives:

To provide experience of the discipline of bioethics within the context of medical practice.
